  • ABS AND STABILITY CONTROL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED - DTC C0044:64 - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 4/9/2013

ISSUE:

Some 2013 C-MAX Hybrid/Energi and Fusion/MKZ Hybrid/Energi vehicles built on or before 4/09/2013 may intermittently exhibit the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control indicators illuminating accompanied by Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) C0044:64. This condition typically occurs in cold ambient temperatures immediately after turning the ignition on, and clears after the ignition is cycled off then on again.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

  1. Reprogram the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module to the latest calibration using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) release 84.02 and higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com.
    1. At the Program Module screen in the IDS service tool, select Program PCM. By selecting the PCM the update will be applied to the appropriate modules as required by the software update.
