Publication Date: March 13, 2013

FORD:
2011-2013 F-250

ISSUE:

Some 2011-2013 F-250 Super Duty 4X4 vehicles may exhibit a customer concern of lower than expected rear suspension height under light loads.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the concern.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Rear ride height may be increased by adding a 10 cm (4") spacer block, along with additional components. Raising rear ride height could affect fifth wheel trailer compatibility.

  1. Lower the rear axle and remove the original 5 cm (2") rear spring spacers. Discard spacer, U-bolts, and nuts. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 204-02.
    1. Refer to parts list chart for the correct part and vehicle application(s).
  2. Install 10 cm (4") rear spring spacers, using new U-bolts and nuts.
  3. Raise rear axle and torque U-bolt nuts in proper sequence. Refer to WSM, Section 204-02.
  4. Replace the rear shock absorbers. Refer WSM, Section 204-02.
  5. If the vehicle is equipped with a two-piece driveshaft, replace the driveshaft and center bearing bracket. Refer to WSM, Section 205-01 and proceed to Step 7.
    1. Check driveline angles, if required. Refer to WSM, Section 205-00.
    2. Failure to update the center bearing bracket, if required, may result in driveline shudder.
  6. If the vehicle is equipped with a one-piece driveshaft, replace the driveshaft. Refer WSM Section 204-02 and proceed to Step 7.
  7. If the vehicle is equipped with a camper package with rear suspension stabilizer bar, replace both rear stabilizer bar links. Refer WSM, Section 204-02 and proceed to Step 8.
  8. Adjust headlamp aim. Refer to WSM, Section 417-01.
