WARNING:
The tire pressure monitoring system is not a substitute for manually checking tire pressures. You should periodically check tire pressures using a pressure gauge. Failure to correctly maintain tire pressures could increase the risk of tire failure, loss of control, vehicle rollover and personal injury. |
Your vehicle has a tire pressure monitoring system.A warning lamp illuminates if the tire pressure in one or more tires is below the correct tire pressure. If the low tire pressure warning lamp illuminates, stop your vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so, check the tires and inflate them to the correct pressure.See
Technical Specifications.
Note:
When you inflate the tires to the correct pressure the system may not respond immediately.
To maintain the load carrying capability of your vehicle, the front tire pressures are different to the rear tire pressures. The system illuminates the warning lamp at different pressures for the front and rear tires.
We recommend that you reposition the wheels and tires to provide consistent performance and maximum tire life. You must reset the system when the wheels have been repositioned for it to determine which set of wheels and tires are on the front and rear axles. The system can then detect and correctly warn you if the tire pressure in one or more tires is below the correct tire pressure.
Driving with one or more tires below the correct tire pressure can:
- Increase tire wear.
- Cause them to overheat.
- Lead to tire failure.
- Affect vehicle handling or stopping ability.
- Reduce fuel efficiency.
How Temperature Affects Tire Pressures
Under normal driving conditions, tire pressures could increase by up to
0.3 bar (4 psi) from a cold start situation.
If your vehicle is stationary overnight and the temperature is significantly lower than the daytime temperature, tire pressures could decrease by up to
0.2 bar (3 psi) when there is a drop in temperature of 31°F (17°C) or more. The system detects this pressure decrease as being significantly below the correct inflation pressure and the warning lamp illuminates.
System Warning Lamps
The main function of the system is to warn you when the tire pressures are significantly low. It also warns you if the system is not correctly operating.

| - Check the tires to verify that none are flat.
- If one or more tires are flat, repair as necessary.
- Check the tire pressures.
- Carry out the system reset procedure.

|
System malfunction.
| If the malfunction indicator remains on, the spare wheel is not in use and after you have checked the tire pressures, the system has detected a fault that requires service.Have your vehicle checked as soon as possible.
|
System Malfunction
The system has a malfunction indicator to warn you if the system is not correctly operating. The malfunction indicator and low tire pressure warning lamp have a combined function. If the system detects a malfunction the indicator flashes for approximately one minute and then remains illuminated. This sequence occurs every time you switch the ignition on, if the malfunction remains. Have your vehicle checked as soon as possible.
If the malfunction indicator illuminates, the system may not be able to warn you that the tire pressure in one or more tires is below the correct tire pressure.
A malfunction could occur if:
- You install a replacement tire or wheel that prevents the system from correctly operating.
- You use the temporary spare wheel.
Always check the system malfunction warning after replacing one or more tires or wheels on your vehicle. Make sure the replacement tires or wheels allow the system to continue to correctly operate.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System Reset Procedure
You must carry out the system reset procedure after each tire replacement or after you inflate the tires to the correct pressure.

System Operation Using the Temporary Spare Wheel
If you use the temporary spare wheel, the system malfunction indicator illuminates. Repair the damaged road wheel and tire and refit it to your vehicle as soon as possible. To restore the correct operation of the system, you must have the repaired road wheel and tire refitted to your vehicle.
Removing a Tire

Each road wheel has a tire pressure sensor inside the wheel and tire assembly. The tire pressure sensor attaches to the valve stem and is not visible until the tire is removed. We recommend you have tires serviced by an authorized dealer.
Note:
Take care when removing a tire to avoid damaging the sensor.
Changing a Road Wheel
If you change a road wheel, the system must relearn the tire pressure sensor strategy. Carry out the following procedure:
- Check the tires and inflate them to the correct pressure.
- Park your vehicle for a minimum of 20 minutes.
- Carry out the system reset procedure.
- The system relearns the tire pressure sensor strategy when you next drive your vehicle at
40 km/h (25 mph) or above for a minimum of 15 minutes.
