WARNING:
Traffic control systems, inclement weather, air brakes, external motors and fans may affect the correct operation of the sensing system. This may cause reduced performance or false alerts.
WARNING:
The parking aid system can only assist you to detect objects when your vehicle is moving at parking speeds. To help avoid personal injury you must take care when using the parking aid system. |
Note:
Some add-on accessories such as large trailer hitches, bike or surfboard racks can cause reduced performance or false alerts.
Note:
Keep the sensors free from snow, ice and large accumulations of dirt.Do not clean the sensors with sharp objects.
Note:
If your vehicle sustains damage leaving the sensors misaligned, this will cause inaccurate measurements or false alerts.
When the parking aid system sounds a tone, the audio system may reduce the set volume. When the warning ends, the audio system will return to the previously set volume.
Rear Sensing System
The rear parking aid sensors automatically turn on when you shift into reverse (R).When your vehicle is less than
30 cm (12 in) from an object, the tone continuously sounds. If the object is more than
30 cm (12 in) from the side of your vehicle’s rear bumper the audible warning sounds for three seconds. If the object is less than
30 cm (12 in) from the side of your vehicle’s rear bumper the audible warning sounds continuously.

A The rear parking aid sensor coverage area is up to 72 in (183 cm) from the center of your vehicle’s rear bumper. There is a decreased coverage area at the outer corners.

The system detects objects when you shift into reverse (R) and:
- Your vehicle is moving toward the object at a speed of less than
5 km/h (3 mph).
- Your vehicle is not moving but a moving object is approaching the rear of your vehicle at a speed of less than
5 km/h (3 mph).
- Your vehicle is moving at a speed of less than
5 km/h (3 mph) and a moving object is approaching the rear of your vehicle at a speed of less
5 km/h (3 mph).
Shift from reverse (R) or press the parking aid button to switch the system off. If a fault is present in the system, a warning message appears in the information display and does not allow you to switch the system on.
Front and Rear Sensing System (If Equipped)
The rear parking aid sensors turn on when you shift into reverse (R). They remain on when you shift into a forward gear until the vehicle speed reaches
12 km/h (7 mph).

The front parking aid sensors do not turn on when you shift into a forward gear. To switch them on, select reverse gear or press the switch on the instrument panel. They remain on until the vehicle speed reaches
12 km/h (7 mph).

A The front parking aid sensor coverage area is up to 31 in (80 cm) from the center of your vehicle’s front bumper and up to 14 in (35 cm) to the side of your vehicle’s front bumper. The rear parking aid sensor coverage area is up to 72 in (183 cm) from the center of your vehicle’s rear bumper. There is a decreased coverage area at the outer corners.

A tone will sound in the following manner when objects are near the front or rear bumpers:
- You will hear a high-pitched tone from the front audio system speakers when large objects are within the sensor coverage area of your vehicle’s front bumper. Moving your vehicle closer to a large object will increase the audible warning repeat rate.
- You will hear a lower-pitched tone from the rear audio system speakers when large objects are within the sensor coverage area of your vehicle’s rear bumper. Moving your vehicle closer to a large object will increase the audible warning repeat rate.
- The parking aid system prioritises audible warnings based on large objects that are the closest to your vehicle’s front or rear bumper. For example, if an object is
60 cm (24 in) from your vehicle’s front bumper and at the same time, an object is only
40 cm (16 in) from your vehicle’s rear bumper, you will hear the lower-pitched tone from the rear audio system speakers.
- You will hear an alternating audible warning from the front and rear audio system speakers if large objects are less than
30 cm (12 in) from your vehicle’s front and rear bumpers.
- If the object is more than
30 cm (12 in) from the side of your vehicle’s bumper area the audible warning will sound for three seconds. If the object is less than
30 cm (12 in) from the side of your vehicle’s bumper area the audible warning will sound continuously.
Shift from reverse (R), drive (D), low (L) or move away from large objects as you drive off, or press the parking aid button to switch the system off. See
