The airbag is designed to deploy during a significant frontal or near-frontal crash. The airbag inflates within a few thousandths of a second cushioning forward body movement and deflates on contact with the occupant. The airbag is not designed to deploy during a minor frontal crash, rear crash, side crash or a vehicle rollover.
Fitting the Passenger Airbag Deactivation Switch

You must switch the passenger airbag off when using a rearward facing child restraint on the front seat. |
If you need to fit a child restraint on a seat protected by an operational airbag in front of it, have a passenger deactivation switch fitted. Contact an authorized dealer.

Turn the switch to position A.
When you switch the ignition on, check that the airbag deactivation warning lamp illuminates.
Note:
The key switch is located in the glove compartment with the airbag deactivation warning lamp in the instrument panel.

Turn the switch to position B.
When you switch the ignition on, check that the airbag activation warning lamp illuminates.
