WARNING   WARNING:  The tire pressure monitoring system is not a substitute for manually checking tire pressures. You should periodically check tire pressures using a pressure gauge. Failure to correctly maintain tire pressures could increase the risk of tire failure, loss of control, vehicle rollover and personal injury.

Your vehicle has a tire pressure monitoring system. A warning lamp illuminates when one or more of the tires are significantly below the correct tire pressure. If the warning lamp illuminates, stop your vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so, check the tires and inflate them to the correct tire pressure.
Note:   After you inflate the tires to the correct pressure, the system may not immediately respond to the air added to the tires.
You can view the tire pressures in the information display.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System Screen
To view the tire pressures, use the information display controls on the steering wheel to select the following:

Menu item   Action
Settings
Press the menu button.
Information
Press the OK button.
Tire Pressure
Press the OK button.

You must reset the tire pressure monitoring system after each tire replacement or after inflating the tires to the correct tire pressure.   See   Resetting the Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Driving on under inflated tires can:
  • Cause them to overheat.
  • Lead to tire failure.
  • Reduce fuel efficiency.
  • Reduced tire life.
  • Affect vehicle handling or stopping ability.
Tire Pressure Sensor Location
Each road wheel and tire has a tire pressure monitoring system sensor inside the wheel and tire assembly. The pressure sensor is not visible unless the tire is removed. We recommend using a tire specialist to remove a tire to avoid damaging a sensor.
Under normal driving conditions, tire pressures may increase by up to 0.3 bar (4 psi) after a cold start.
If the overnight temperature is significantly lower than the daytime temperature, tire pressures may decrease by up to 0.2 bar (3 psi) when there is a drop in temperature of 17 °C (63 °F) or more. The warning lamp illuminates if the system detects the tire pressure decrease to be significantly below the correct tire pressure.
Using the Temporary Spare Wheel (If Equipped)
The temporary spare wheel does not have a tire pressure monitoring system sensor. The warning lamp illuminates if you use the temporary spare wheel. To restore correct operation of the system, repair or replace the damaged road wheel and tire as soon as possible and refit it to your vehicle.
Note:   When using the spare wheel, a warning message may appear in the information display.
Using the Temporary Mobility Kit (If Equipped)
If you use the temporary mobility kit to repair a punctured tire, the warning lamp may illuminate. To restore correct operation of the system, repair or replace the damaged tire as soon as possible and refit it to your vehicle.
Changing Road Wheels and Tires
If you change the road wheels and tires on your vehicle, for example fitting alternative wheels and winter tires, and the wheels have tire pressure monitoring system sensors, do the following:
  1. Inflate the tires to the correct tire pressure.   See   Tire Pressures
  1. Park your vehicle for a minimum of 20 minutes.
  1. Reset the tire pressure monitoring system.   See   Resetting the Tire Pressure Monitoring System
The system recognizes the new sensors the next time you drive your vehicle for approximately 15 minutes at a vehicle speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) or higher.
Repositioning the Road Wheels
To maintain vehicle load carrying capability, your vehicle may require different tire pressures in the front tires compared to the rear tires. The system illuminates the warning lamp at different pressures for the front and rear tires. If you reposition the road wheels from the front to the rear of your vehicle, you must check the tires and inflate them to the correct tire pressure and reset the tire pressure monitoring system.   See   Tire Pressures
See   Resetting the Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Low Tire Pressure Warning Lamp and Indicator
Low Tire Pressure Indicator  The low tire pressure warning lamp and system malfunction indicator has a combined function.
If it illuminates when the engine is running, this indicates that one or more of the tires are significantly below the correct tire pressure.
Note:   A warning message may appear in the information display.
If it does not illuminate when you switch the ignition on, or flashes when the engine is running, this indicates a malfunction. If the system detects a malfunction, the warning lamp flashes for approximately one minute and then remains illuminated. This occurs every time you switch the ignition on if the malfunction remains. Have your vehicle checked as soon as possible.
Note:   If the malfunction indicator illuminates, the system may not correctly operate.
