The following warning lamps and indicators alert you to a vehicle condition that may become serious. Some lamps illuminate when you start your vehicle to make sure they work. If any lamps remain on after starting your vehicle, refer to the respective system warning lamp for further information.
Note:   Some warning indicators appear in the information display and operate the same as a warning lamp but do not illuminate when you start your vehicle.
Adaptive Cruise Control Lamp (If Equipped)
Adaptive Cruise Control - Set or Identification  The speed control system indicator light changes color to indicate what mode the system is in:   See   Using Cruise Control
On (white light): Illuminates when the adaptive cruise control system is turned on. Turns off when the speed control system is turned off.
Engaged (green light): Illuminates when the adaptive cruise control system is engaged. Turns off when the speed control system is disengaged.
Anti-Lock Braking System Warning Lamp
Antilock Braking System Warning Lamp   If it illuminates when you are driving, this indicates a malfunction.You will continue to have the normal braking system (without anti-lock braking system) unless the brake system warning lamp is also illuminated.Have your vehicle checked by an authorized dealer.
Automatic High Beam Lamp (If Equipped)
Auto High Beam Indicator  Illuminates when this feature is on.  See   Automatic High Beam Control
Auto Start-Stop Lamp (If Equipped)
Auto Start/Stop  Illuminates to inform you when the engine shuts down or in conjunction with a message.
Battery Warning Lamp
Ignition Warning Lamp  If it illuminates when driving, this indicates a malfunction. Switch off all unnecessary electrical equipment.Have your vehicle checked by an authorized dealer immediately.
Blind Spot Monitor Indicator (If Equipped)
Blind Spot Monitor Indicator  Illuminates when you switch this feature off or in conjunction with a message.   See   Blind Spot Information System
Brake System Warning Lamp
WARNING   WARNING:  Driving your vehicle with the warning lamp on is dangerous. A significant decrease in braking performance may occur. It may take you longer to stop your vehicle. Have your vehicle checked as soon as possible. Driving extended distances with the parking brake engaged can cause brake failure and the risk of personal injury.

Brake System Warning Lamp  Illuminates when you engage the parking brake with the ignition on.
If it illuminates when you are driving, check that the parking brake is not engaged. If the parking brake is not engaged, this indicates low brake fluid level or a brake system malfunction. Have your vehicle checked by an authorized dealer immediately.
Cruise Control Indicator
Cruise Control  Illuminates when you switch this feature on.   See   Using Cruise Control
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Warning Lamp (If Equipped)
Diesel Exhaust Fluid  Illuminates and a message will appear in the information display when the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (AdBlue®) level is low and needs to be refilled, or a fault is active in the system.
Diesel Particulate Filter (If Equipped)
Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration  Illuminates if the diesel particulate filter is full.   See   Diesel Particulate Filter
Direction Indicator
Direction Indicator Warning Lamp  It illuminates when you switch the left or right direction indicator or the hazard flasher on. If the indicators stay on or flash faster, check for a burnt out bulb.See   Changing a Bulb
Door Ajar Indicator
Powertrain Warning Lamp  Illuminates when the ignition is on and any door is not completely closed.
Engine Coolant Temperature Warning Lamp
Engine Coolant Temperature Warning Lamp  Illuminates when the engine or motor coolant temperature is high. Stop your vehicle as soon as possible and contact your authorized dealer.
Engine Oil Warning Lamp
WARNING   WARNING:  If it illuminates when you are driving do not continue your journey, even if the oil level is correct. Have your vehicle checked.

Low Oil Pressure Warning Lamp  If it illuminates with the engine running or when you are driving, this indicates a malfunction. Stop your vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so and switch the engine off. Check the engine oil level.
Electronic Locking Differential (If Equipped)
Locking Differential  Illuminates when using the electronic locking differential.
Fasten Seatbelt Warning Lamp
Seat Belt  Illuminates and a tone sounds to remind you to fasten your seatbelt.
Four-Wheel Drive Indicators (If Equipped)
4L Icon  Illuminates when four-wheel drive low is engaged.
4H Icon  Illuminates when four-wheel drive high is engaged.
Front Airbag Warning Lamp
Airbag  If the warning lamp does not illuminate during start up, remains on or flashes, the system may be disabled.
Have your vehicle checked by an authorized dealer.
Front Fog Lamps Indicator (If Equipped)
Front Fog Lamp Indicator  Illuminates when you switch the front fog lamps on.
Frost Warning Lamp (If Equipped)
WARNING   WARNING:  Even if the temperature rises to above 4 °C there is no guarantee that the road is free of hazards caused by inclement weather.

Frost Warning Lamp  Illuminates when the outside air temperature is 4 °C or below.
Glow Plug Indicator
Diesel Pre-Heat Warning  With the key in the on position, illuminates when the glow plug heat is necessary as a starting aid. Wait until the light goes off before starting.
After you start the engine, the light should turn off. When the engine is cold, the light should always illuminate for a short period.
High Beam Indicator
High Beam Indicator  Illuminates when you switch the high beam headlamps on. It flashes when you use the headlamp flasher.
Hill Descent Control (If Equipped)
Hill Decent  Illuminates when hill descent control is switched on.
Hood Ajar Warning Lamp
Hood Ajar  Illuminates when the ignition is on and the hood is not completely closed.
Lane Keeping Aid Indicator (If Equipped)
Lane Keeping Aid Indicator  Illuminates when you activate the lane keeping system.
Low Beam Malfunction (If Equipped)
Low Beam Malfunction  Lights when there is a malfunction with the low beam headlamp bulb.
Low Fuel Level Warning Lamp
Low Fuel Level Warning Lamp  If it illuminates when you are driving, refuel as soon as possible.
Low Tire Pressure Warning (If Equipped)
Low Tire Pressure Indicator  Illuminates when your tire pressure is low. If the lamp remains on with the engine running or when driving, check the tire pressure as soon as possible.
It will also illuminate momentarily when you switch the ignition on to confirm the lamp is functional. If it does not illuminate when you switch the ignition on, or begins to flash at any time, have the system checked by an authorized dealer.
Low Washer Fluid
Low Washer Fluid Warning Lamp  It illuminates when the windshield washer fluid is low.
Over Speed Warning (If Equipped)
Over Speed Warning  It illuminates if your vehicle exceeds 120 km/h.
Parking Lamps Indicator
Lamps ON Indicator  It illuminates when you switch the parking lamps on.
Powertrain Fault
Non Emission Powetrain Fault  It illuminates when a powertrain or a four-wheel drive fault has been detected. Contact an authorized dealer as soon as possible.
Rear Fog Lamps Indicator (If Equipped)
Rear Fog Lamp Indicator  It illuminates when you switch the rear fog lamps on.
Service Engine Soon
Engine Warning Lamp   If it illuminates when the engine is running this indicates a malfunction.The On Board Diagnostics system has detected a malfunction of the vehicle emission control system.
If it flashes, engine misfire may be occurring.Increased exhaust gas temperatures could damage the catalytic converter or other vehicle components. Drive in a moderate fashion, avoid heavy acceleration and deceleration and have your vehicle immediately serviced.
It illuminates when you switch the ignition on prior to engine start to check the bulb and to indicate whether your vehicle is ready for Inspection and Maintenance (I/M) testing.
Normally, it illuminates until the engine is cranked and automatically turns off if no malfunctions are present. However, if after 15 seconds it flashes eight times, this indicates that your vehicle is not ready for Inspection and Maintenance (I/M) testing.
Shift Indicator (If Equipped)
Shift Up  Illuminates to inform you that shifting to a higher gear as indicated may give better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. It does not illuminate during periods of high acceleration, braking or when the clutch pedal is pressed.
Speed Limiter
LIM Icon  Illuminates when you switch on the speed limiter system.   See   Speed Limiter - Vehicles With: Cruise Control
Stability Control Warning Lamp
Traction Control ON and OFF Button  It flashes when the system is active. If it remains illuminated or does not illuminate when you switch the ignition on, this indicates a malfunction. During a malfunction the system will switch off. Have your vehicle checked by an authorized dealer immediately.   See   Using Stability Control
Stability Control Off Indicator
Stability Control System OFF  Illuminates when you switch the system off. It goes out when you switch the system back on or when you switch the ignition off.   See   Using Stability Control
Traffic Sign Recognition Road Condition Indicator (If Equipped)
Traffic Sign Condition  Illuminates when the road condition is prohibiting traffic sign recognition.
Traffic Sign Recognition Speed Limit Indicator (If Equipped)
Traffic Sign - Speed Limit  Illuminates when you have exceeded the speed limit for traffic sign recognition.
Water-In-Fuel Warning Lamp
Water/Moisture in Fuel System  Illuminates when there is excess water in the fuel filter. Drain off the water immediately.See   Draining the Fuel Filter Water Trap - 2.2L Diesel
