2020 Escape

Issue: Some 2020 Escape vehicles may encounter false blind spot information system (BLIS) alerts. This may be due to the side obstacle detection right (SODR) and side obstacle detection left (SODL) control module mounting brackets and configuration. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the mounting brackets and configure the modules.

Action: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all the following criteria:

• 2020 Escape

• Equipped with BLIS

• False BLIS alerts

Service Procedure

1. Remove the rear bumper cover. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-19.

2. Locate the SODR and SODL control modules. Remove and replace both control module mounting brackets. Refer to WSM, Section 419-04.

NOTE: The side obstacle detection modules will be reused.

3. Using a diagnostic scan tool, change the modules configuration by running the SODL and SODR configuration apps and follow the on-screen instructions.

4. Install the rear bumper cover. Refer to WSM, Section 501-19.
