ISSUE:

Some 2013 Escape, Fusion, Flex, MKT, MKS and Taurus vehicles built on or before 12/10/2012 may exhibit a static popping, distorted sound from the speakers or a noticeable audio change between stereo and mono on FM only. Additionally MKT and MKS vehicles may exhibit a rumbling, gallop or static white noise sound coming from the subwoofer.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

  1. Reprogram the Audio Control Module (ACM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 83.01 or higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com.
  2. Reset the ACM display time and date. Refer to Owners Guide, Audio System section.
